Check. Plan. Go. is a seasonal campaign that promotes the importance of checking your vehicle and road conditions before embarking upon road travel around the Territory.

If you are planning a driving holiday make sure you follow the below tips to ensure your journey is a safe one.

Check

Check your vehicle is well maintained and ready for the journey.

• Is your vehicle appropriate for the journey?
• Check the lights, battery and tyres are in good condition.
• If towing a caravan or trailer check the tyre pressure, brake system and coupling, and don’t overload.
• Know your vehicle, ensure it is serviced and sound.

Plan

Plan your trip and know the road conditions.

• Are there road closures or delays, which route will you take?
• Pack enough food, water and fuel for the journey.
• Download the Road Report NT app or visit roadreport.nt.gov.au.

Go

Go and make sure your journey is a safe one.

• Tell someone your travel plans and when you intend to return.
• Are you rested and ready for the drive?
• Stay alert, monitor your fatigue and take regular rest breaks.
• Enjoy the journey and drive to the conditions.
