The Road Safety Grants program is now open

The Northern Territory Government urges all Territorians to prioritise road safety and drive like our lives are worth living.

Road safety is everyone’s responsibility. As individuals and as a community, we have the power to make our roads safer.

As part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety outcomes, the Northern Territory Government is encouraging community participation through the Road Safety Grants program. The program provides an opportunity for grass roots organisations, groups and schools to develop and implement road safety initiatives important to their community.

The program is open to NT based not for profit organisations, local governments, schools, sporting or community groups to develop and implement road safety initiatives that address local road safety concerns and increase road safety awareness.

Grants of up to $15,000 are now available.

Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis, with applicants notified of the outcome within eight weeks of submission.

Grants will be available until the allocated funding is exhausted or until June 2026, whichever occurs first. A review of the Road Safety Grants program was completed in 2024 and the following changes have occurred as a result:

  • The former Community Grants and Quick Response Grants have been combined to form one Road Safety Grant program.
  • The funding limit has increased from $5,000 to $15,000.
  • Grant applications will be accepted and assessed throughout the period the grants are open, and grant applicants will be informed of the outcome within 8 weeks of grant submission.

Grants are listed on NTG grants directory page.
