Ride across pedestrian crossings
Previously cyclists were required to dismount before crossing at a signalised foot crossing, children’s crossing and pedestrian crossing. The road rules have been changed to allow cyclists to ride slowly across crossings.
The road rule change has been introduced to improve connectivity for cyclists, without compromising safety. Cyclists to note the following:
- riding slowly means at walking pace
- cyclists must give way to pedestrians on crossings
- cyclists must only ride across a signalised crossing if the crossing is showing a green bicycle and/or green pedestrian crossing light.
